Why the Falcon Heavy rocket was chosen for the Europa clipper mission?
The Europa Clipper mission was planned to take place with NASA’s another rocket SLS(Space Launch System). But, due to several delays & over costs, it is not operational yet. Previously in 2018, the Falcon heavy carried Musk’s Tesla Roadster into space.
It can generate about 22 million Newtons at liftoff which is enough for the mission to take place.
What will the Europa clipper mission do or what is the exact mission?
The mission is mainly to look for the hidden life o Europa, the Europa Clipper will make 40 to 50 close passes over Europa to take some high-resolution images, that will determine the composition of the moon if it is suitable for life, saltiness in its surface, and depth of the ice and surface ( it also has radar to penetrate the surface to look if it has any sign of water under the ice layer).
